last night i went to see youth and revolt. i kinda thought it was great! it’s quite amusing and i’ve always been a michael cera fan. i’ll admit the dialogue between nick and sheeni is excruciatingly quirky and pretentious, but that’s the point. it’s ridiculous and it’s funny. how many 16 year old girls fawn over hunky jean paul belmondo of the 60’s, let alone know who he is? not many, not even a few.
and then there is nick twisp’s alter ego, francois dillinger. he has the best lines, the best outfit and the best creepy, stone-cold, fake blue contact lens gaze. he’s fantastic even down to the way he holds his cigarette; skillfully moving it from between index and middle to between ring and pinky fingers. i loved him.
